Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County (CIS) is a member of radical/liberal political networks the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, Together NC Partner Coalition and Blueprint NC.
The Together NC network was the creation of the left-wing NC Justice Center, itself a member of Blueprint NC, the group that gained infamy with its memo calling for followers to “eviscerate, mitigate, litigate, cogitate and agitate” the state’s leadership in 2013.

Manpower Development Corporation, (MDC) was founded in 1967 out of Gov. Terry Sanford’s North Carolina Fund. The North Carolina Fund (eradicate poverty campaign), was started with grant money from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation and the Ford Foundation.

The Institute for Southern Studies (ISS) was founded in 1970 by veteran civil rights activists and continues to promote the idea that the South and its people haven’t changed since at least the 1960’s. ISS jumps at the chance to call any one that disagrees with their point of view a racist, bigot or any other name that would help to discontinue the discussion. They were created to change the South to a “liberal/progressive” region.
