A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) is affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the Socialist Party. It is headquartered in the same building as the North Carolina chapter of the AFL-CIO. The Institute is a national group known for its community organizing efforts.
APRI is a member of Blueprint NC, the left-wing group that gained infamy with its “eviscerate, mitigate, litigate, cogitate and agitate” leadership strategy memo targeting the state’s leadership in 2013.
The institute was named for Asa Philip Randolph, one-time leader of the Socialist party, union organizer, civil rights leader in the 1940-60s and atheist (signer of the Humanist Manifesto II).
