Clean Air Carolina
GroupClean Air Carolina is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that advocates against development of new highways because they believe new highways promote “sprawl”. They have also joined with the Southern Environmental Law Center to stop construction on at least two highways in N.C. Part of their reasoning is that new highways would facilitate sprawling residential development into sparsely populated areas and that they would increase vehicle miles traveled. Clean Air Carolina also advocates to expand sustainable energy sources expecting the taxpayers to foot the bill with tax credits and subsides.
Clean Air Carolina contends they want to “limit carbon pollution from coal-fired power plants” and they support the Obama administration’s proposal to set carbon pollution limits on new and existing power plants. (section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act). Studies show that Obama’s plan will disproportionately affect low-income and the unreasonable regulations will certainly raise energy prices.
