Youth Organizing Institute – YOI


The Youth Organizing Institute (YOI) formed in March 2010 to increase the representation of youth in the debate over diversity in Wake County Schools. It has now progressed to a radical, leftist student group championing rights such as LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter, It is a leadership development and organizing training program. It holds several events such as Queernival and Teen Convening, Its regular program Summer Freedom School takes place every summer. It has lead to the creation of groups such as NC Heat and Southern Vision Alliance (SVA).
