Institute for Southern Studies
GroupThe Institute for Southern Studies (ISS) was founded in 1970 by veteran civil rights activists and continues to promote the idea that the South and its people haven’t changed since at least the 1960’s. ISS jumps at the chance to call any one that disagrees with their point of view a racist, bigot or any other name that would help to discontinue the discussion. They were created to change the South to a “liberal/progressive” region.
Institute for Southern Studies was a founding member of the organization (Blueprint NC) best known for the strategy memo that directed their members to “eviscerate, mitigate, litigate, cogitate and agitate” the state’s leadership in 2013.
